Online dating seminar comes to Europe this weekend only

The online dating seminar in Barcelona this weekend promises to be jam-packed with information, presentations and panel-type speaking events from the biggest names in the world of online dating.

The event runs from Friday 2nd through to Monday 5th March inclusive and there is a whole host of events planned for the four day weekend, which kicks off at 3pm in the Spanish capital at the Miramar Barcelona hotel, overlooking Las Rambas, the city and the Mediterranean.

Amongst the highlights on Saturday, at 2.30pm in the Montjuic Room, is an expert panel gathered to deliver their views on the overall state of the online dating industry. There will be a look back at where dating sites started, where they are now and what the future holds.

Once the panel have had their say, the floor will open up into a question and answers session for all those who have gathered for the presentation.

Directly after the Q & A in the same room, Badoo affiliate manager Samir El-Alami will address the pressing issue of how marketing for dating sites by third parties who earn a commission for the sign-ups they send to them may have its existing structure threatened. Little has changed in the affiliate model since its conception; the last two years, as social media has rocketed its way to prominence (so much so that there is a session dedicated purely to Twitter and Facebook exploitation earlier in the day) it has been acknowledged that the marketing for dating sites using old methods needs to be brought up to date to match the changing face of online advertising.

There will also be country-specific sessions running throughout the day, the UK dating scene being addressed at 5pm on the Saturday in the Azulete room for the best part of an hour. Emerging European markets like Turkey, Holland and France will also be up for discussion during the course of the day.

On both full days, there will be chances to network in eighty minute sessions in the Montjuic room; possible JV partnerships in the online dating market are in the offing as the free-for-all invites parties from across the dating industry to get to know each other better.

Samir is back on duty at 4pm on the Sunday as he discusses the pros and cons of joining performance networks, an area that dating site affiliates do not tend to go for. Brandon Wade to speak at Online Dating Summit 2012

We’ve had iDate Miami and the world of online dating is still buzzing from the energy created at the week long conference. But there’s no time to hold one’s breath – the next big event is little over five weeks away, this time Europe is the destination.

The biggest names in the world of online dating will be gathered in Barcelona at the Online Dating Summit 2012 over the weekend of Friday 2nd March to Monday 5th inclusive for updates and innovations since the event in Florida at the end of last month.

Among the speakers in Spain will be one of the most renowned names in Internet dating and owner of some of the most controversial websites, Brandon Wade. He will be speaking on the panel for the debate for affiliates who have the decision of where their traffic is sent.  This is not going to be one for the purists, nor the faint-hearted.

No matter how much those dating sites get highlighted and publicly berated (and Wade is not afraid to put his sites in the firing line for target practise; there’s no such thing as bad publicity, right?), they all make money; for Wade and the affiliate army who pave the roads for customers looking for the types of niche dating he offers to find the way to his sites and no one else’s.

There are two types of customer in the world of online dating – those looking for a quick fling and those in it for the long haul. The panel discussing “Mainstream Dating vs. Casual Dating – When to Send Your Traffic Where” will endeavour to decipher between the two types of customer.  From there, the decision is which type of dating site will suit the customer best in order to get the best ROI for the afilliate driving traffic for the programs they’re signed up to and, of course, the webmaster themselves.

Details in one recent report suggest that Wade’s sites receive a quarter all of their traffic from affiliate programs – with a portfolio like his, that’s an awful lot of traffic to divert – positioning yourself to be one of the drivers could be extremely lucrative for those who put the effort in.
